"Magneto Telluric Method for Geothermal Exploration"

Indonesia has been blessed with abundant geothermal energy all around the country. This huge resource is a characteristic of Indonesia that is not owned by other countries. With proper exploration and utilization, geothermal energy can become one of the main energies to support the welfare of the nation.

Magnetotelluric (MT) imaging is the most powerful method to reconstruct a geothermal system model based on resistivity distribution. MT can be used to define top of reservoir, delineate geometry of reservoir and determine well target zones. However, MT technology need to be applied carefully from data acquisition, processing, and modelling to avoid misleading.

What should be considered in applying MT technology? What are its challenges? And how to overcome the challenges?

These crucial questions will be answered by Dr. Eng. Yunus Daud, M.Sc.; He is Head of Geothermal Research Center in Universitas Indonesia and the Founder of NewQuest Geotechnology.

"Equipment for Geomagnetic Surveys"

Dr. Marhaban Sigalingging, Director of PT. Mitra Intimarga, will present various equipment for geomagnetic measurements and surveys, including the GSM-90 Overhauser and GSM-19 Scalar Magnetometer, as well as the dIdD Vector Magnetometer.

In addition, he will explain magnetic measurement-based equipment with the latest technology, such as the Magneto- & Bacteriodrome, which consists of a digital microscope, integrated magnetic field generator, precision sample movement, advanced control software. This equipment can be used in the fields of biomagnetism, microrobotics and materials science.

It will also be presented about the Portable Spinning Magnetometer used in the fields of paleomagnetism, geochronology, rockmagnetism, archeology & magnetometry, and environmental sciences.

And no less interesting is the Variable Field Translation Balance, which is used in thermomagnetic measurements, IRM acquisition, DC demagnetization, which is indispensable in determining materials based on magnetic hysteresis and FORC (First-order reversal curves).
